The paper we work with is handcrafted in India and made of 100% cotton. It is thick paper and features a beautiful deckled edge. The paper is exceptionally strong, and each sheet is unique. Cotton paper has been primarily produced in India, especially since several centuries before Christ, after the Chinese introduced this papermaking technique there. Only new cotton is used for the white sheets. Cotton rags from around the world are transported to India for the production of this paper. The rags are hand-sorted by color and cut into equal pieces. These pieces are dissolved in large water tanks and ‘beaten’ into a cotton pulp. It is evenly scooped onto large screens, pressed, and then hung up for further drying.
